New Year brings changes...

SUPRISE!!! I'm here! Many apologies for neglecting my blog for so long. I'd love to say that it won't happen again, but I won't! It's been a busy time. The holiday season was full of shows -- almost every weekend. Between all the shows, spending time with family and friends, and moving to a new location in Canton, I'm pooped!!

My junk buddy, Lillie of Junk Palace, and I moved from Dry Creek Landing to a new spot on Row 46. We are right off Dealers Row and back up to the creek. It was a sudden change and we didn't get time to inform everyone before the last show, so I hope you found us. Here are a few pictures from my booth.....

Eerie Elegant Halloween

You couldn't have asked for better weather this past Canton weekend. It was gorgeous! We had a fantastic crowd of shoppers who enjoyed it too. The booth was set for Halloween. Eerie, but elegant. Lots of fun and interesting things to see. I'll let you sit back and enjoy the pictures......

Grand Opening Celebration

This past Canton show marked the grand opening celebration of Dry Creek Landing - the new lock & leave building where I have my booth. The city had a ribbon cutting and gave away cookies, lemonade, shopping bags, pens, fans and shopping carts. All the dealers in the building celebrated by having giveaways of their own. Lots of fun and treats for everyone! Lillie and I added to the celebration by giving out little goodie bags. We had a lot to celebrate -- we expanded and now each have our own space to show off all the cool junk we have to offer. Hope you made it by to see us and celebrate with us.

Canton Heats Up!

Ok, it was a bit toasty at Canton this last week. But we cranked up the fans and had a great show! We had a fun group of ladies from A Gilded Life stop by to do some shopping. Hope to see all of you again soon!

Our first show in Dry Creek Landing, the new lock and leave building at Canton, was GREAT!! No water on the floor when we had a bit of rain. Great ventilation from the Texas weather courtesy of 10 big exhaust fans (some shoppers even asked if we had air conditioning). Lots of great customers who loaded up their vehicles with cool stuff. And we are becoming good friends with the rest of the vendors in the building. Everyone was so nice!

Lillie and I worked hard to get everything ready for the big reveal. Hope everyone was pleased with what we had to offer. Here are a few pictures....

It's almost time!! We are busy getting our new spot ready for next First Monday at Canton. Lillie and I will be sharing a booth at the new lock and leave facility -- Dry Creek Landing. It's located right on Dealers Row. Hope you make it out to see us!

Big roll-up doors to let in lots of air. Also has 10 huge exhaust fans and a bunch of ceiling fans.

Toasty Canton

Canton was a bit on the toasty side this time. Hope everyone found a way to stay cool. Lillie and I spent a lot of time sitting on the ice chest with a couple of fans blowing on us! We had side-by-side booths under her cute yellow and white striped tent in front of the Civic Center. We brought lots of garden and patio items. I started taking a few pictures and then got busy with customers and never pulled the camera out again. Here are a few shots....

BRRRRRR! We had a couple of very cold and rainy days at Canton. The vendors outside had to endure a miserable cold and wet Friday. Many dealers didn't open at all. It was very warm and toasty in the Civic Center -- I'm glad I was inside! A big thank you to everyone who braved the weather and came out to do a bit of shopping. I made it back from Round Top only a bit waterlogged! My rain boots are finally drying out. It was a great show and I can't wait to do it again. It was so good to see all my friends and meet new ones.

Here are some pictures of my booth at the Texas Rose Antique Show in Round Top. Please ignore the little plastic cups under the legs of all the furniture. We had lots of rain and this is the best way to keep the moisture from wicking up the wood.

Am I coming or going??

I know! I know!! This month is almost gone and I haven't posted anything about last Canton. I've been busy!! I did take a few pictures, but must apologize for the quality -- I guess I had my camera on the wrong setting....

If you see anything you want me to pack for Round Top, let me know. It might still be available.... and I'm still packing. It took two trips with a van & trailer to get everything down there for the last show and I have doubled my booth size for this show!! I know I have at least 20 totes of vintage Christmas ready to go. And then there is that fantastic 7 piece French set. And I'm hoping there's room for the bigger than king-size OLD metal 4-poster bed..... Did I mention that I'm stressing a little??

This is one busy time of year! Everyone I know --including me-- is getting ready for the big show at Round Top/Warrenton. I'll be setting up this Tuesday. Should already be there, but first I have to do the Antique Elegance show this weekend at the Richardson Civic Center. This is one fantastic show with beautiful antiques. Then I'm off to Round Top to set up at the Texas Rose show -- right across from Marburger. Right after that I'll be at Market in the Meadow in Dallas and then at the Pacesetters Bazaar in Richardson.

Here are a few little creations I've been working on. They are packed up and ready to go to the holiday shows. This is just a little sample, mind you. Have to keep some things a surprise!!

HOT TIME AT CANTON

I'm not kidding you -- it was HOT! And then the big rain and wind came in late Saturday afternoon and cooled everyone off for a little while. Unfortunately, it flooded some of the dealers out and messed up quite a few tents. Then the storm passed on and it was nice and sunny and everyone went back to shopping. I do want to send a big 'thank you' to one of my new favorite customers -- Harley -- who sought shelter in our building and ended up helping us lift up furniture and squeegie water out of the bulding. Come by next time you are at Canton and get a cold one -- and I don't mean water!

Brain Buzz

Did a little junking today. Found a van load of stuff -- and I have a big van! Finally got a few big 'statement' pieces, some funky rusty metal items, bunches of 'smalls' and some other good stuff. But I think my most favorite thing I found today is this box of used pale pink satin pointe shoes. At least 30 pairs!! With long ribbons!

Now my brain is just buzzing with ideas on what to do with them ..... other than just sell them.... (they are for sell and have been listed on my blogshop)

Weekend Fun

This past weekend was spent in the cute town of Waxahachie, Texas. I 'crashed' the Paper Cowgirl Altered Art Retreat and was so glad I did. My sister had enrolled in the classes and I just tagged along. After seeing how much fun they had and all the great creations they took home with them -- I am so signing up for the next one!!

I know! I know!! I'm the last person to blog about the grand opening of the great new hot spot Winnie & Tulula's. You have probably seen lots of great pictures and already heard how wonderful everything was. And you are kicking yourself because you didn't get to be a part of it all! Well, it was wonderful!! There was a line of customers outside anxiously waiting to get in!! The check-out counter was hopping! The snacks were delicious! And the thirst-quenching 'tululas' were yummie!! Thank you Gloria for opening such a great new place!!!

What a fun time it was last Thursday at Canton when Ki stopped by for a little meet-n-greet party held at The Veranda. We served a little snack and some cool drinks. Everyone visited and took pictures. We passed out flyers for the grand opening of Winnie & Tulula's -- only 9 more days!!! Everyone signed the 'wall of fame' (my check-out counter). I have more big news...

Ki Nassauer of Junk Camp fame is also coming to Canton next week! Ki is an original Junk Queen, regular contributor to Country Home magazine via the 'Cool Junk' column, and co-author of 2 books. She also has one of the biggest Junk Roundups in the Midwest, the Junk Bonanza, every September. She was looking for junking hot spots to hit on her long trip from Florida back to Minnesota and picked Canton. Margo (aka RoboLady) will be showing her around, so be on the lookout for them. Better yet -- come by The Veranda and say hello to Ki on Thursday at noon. We will be hosting a little blogger Meet-n-Greet party with a few refreshments. Stop in and say hello. If you have a book or magazine you want her to sign, feel free to bring it with you. Since they have so much junking to do and so little time, Ki will probably only be able to stay about an hour. Hope you make it by to see us. The Veranda is located at roads 43 & 43A by the creek - across from The Porch.

Another Canton weekend has come and gone. Boy, was it busy!! Loved it!! Well, maybe not the tornado weather we had Saturday night. Spent more than an hour in the men's bathroom (closest concrete building) with about 80 other people and pets until the threat passed. It was a bit scary - but no tornado. We had some heavy rains during the night, but Sunday turned out to be a great day!

Loved seeing everyone. Met lots of new friends. Sold a few things, found some new treasures. Getting ready for next month!!

My little girl had her gall bladder taken out today. She's been in the hospital since early last Thursday when she went to the ER. They couldn't do surgery until today because of an inflamed pancreas. Surgery went well, but they are keeping her overnite so they can do an MRI in the morning. She's not a happy camper! She hasn't been allowed to eat solid foods during her entire hospital stay. She will pay good money to anyone who will sneak her a Keller's #5 burger!! And no, that isn't a recent photo of her..... But she's still just as cute!! If I posted a current picture, it would give away my age!!

Texas Rose Show

FINALLY! I'm posting some pictures from the big antique show at Round Top/Warrenton. I was set up at the Texas Rose Show in Round Top -- right across the street from Marburger. First time I've done this particular show and it was great!! Since I only decided to do the show about 3 weeks before it started, I was only able to get a small booth. Next show -- BIG booth!!

Here's a few pictures of my booth -- before I sold stuff and had to re-do it.... And before the camera battery ran down.... (note to self -- don't forget charger next time)

We had some magazine shoots at our show. Romantic Country was there and they took pictures of my booth. I was kinda excited as my booth was the only one in the big tent that was photographed. I had to get a picture of them taking pictures.....

And then this is what you get when you 'pimp out Chad'. Chad is one of the dealers in my field. Business was a little slow one day and needed a boost, so I convinced Chad to stand on the main street and draw in some customers. It worked!!! It ended up being a very busy day!! And don't you just love his cute little dog Trixie!

It's true what they say about March blowing in like a lion!! Hope it goes out like a lamb..... We had a couple of days of bad winds during this past Canton week. First from one direction, then from the other! Thanks to everyone who stopped in to say hello! It was so nice to see you!!

Another great Antique Elegance Show has come and gone. They had record crowds on Saturday! Lots of people even came early to attend the fashion show. This show has some amazing treasures! And everything must be old -- 1940's and older. I'm not worthy to be included, but I gave it my best.

Look what I found! Isn't it the most wonderful orginal shade of robin's egg blue! These pictures were snapped very quickly as everything was being loaded in the van and I didn't even get to take pictures of the whole set. There is a round table with glass top (hole in glass to allow for umbrella), four wonderful arm chairs (two bounce and two are stationary) and two fantastic chaise lounges (sorry no pics of them). This is one heavy set! Don't you just love the scrolly arms and the pretty roses design in the metal? There was some paperwork with this set that had the name Lee L. Woodard Furniture - Owosso, Michigan. I haven't found a label on the furniture. I'm getting it ready for the next Canton show.

My friend Lillie just called to say that two of her granddaughters are in the hospital with the flu. Those of you who came to Lillie's grand opening of Junk Palace probably met her daughter, Crystal, who was working the checkout counter. Both of her girls are in the hospital. Baily (about 16) had to be brought to the ICU at Children's Hospital in Dallas due to some major complications and little Jaycee (about 2) is still in Athens -but may be released today. I'll keep you posted as best as possible. Please say a prayer, send well wishes, good thoughts, anything....

Junk Palace in Malakoff is almost ready for the grand opening!

Lillie has been working hard getting everything ready for you. The new space is looking fantastic! I've been having fun helping her out the last few days and let me tell you -- it is GREAT! Everyone is invited to her grand opening celebration! You don't want to miss it!

Be there this Saturday -- January 24th at 11:00 a.m. -- to share in the excitement! Her new shop is located at 213 S. Terry Street in Malakoff. You can't get lost -- just turn at the stop light!

Any ideas on the best way to set up a Blog Shop? Are they allowed? I HOPE SO! If you have one or know of one that you really like -- I'd love to see it.

Do you think it should be a separate blog? I like that idea -- just in case I'm not in the shopping mood when I'm looking at all the great blogs out there. What do you think?

Can you post your pictures on a site like Photobucket? Or is that against their rules?

I used to sell on e-Bay -- but not too happy with it.

Ringing in the New Year at Canton

Happy New Year! It was a really nice Canton this past week. Rang in the New Year on Wednesday night and was ready for shoppers Thursday morning. The weather tried to cooperate most of the time. Warmed up to about 80 on Saturday! Saw lots of shoppers who had on their summer shorts and t-shirts!! But remember -- this is Texas! Woke up Sunday and had to put on the long-johns! We had the heaters running and the coffee brewing, so I hope you made it by our building to warm up a bit! The last Canton of this year has come and gone. Thanks to everyone that came out to see us -- braving the nasty rain on Friday and the gusty winds on Sunday! We had the building totally decorated for Christmas and sold lots of vintage holiday items.

Having Withdrawal Symptoms...

I know it's been a while since I updated my blog, but I really have a good reason this time. My dad had a big nasty tumor removed from his brain the day after I got back from Canton and blogging just didn't make the schedule. Everything went well and he went home with 62 titanium staples in his head. He made me count them and take pictures -- which I won't post -- but if he had his surgery before Halloween, he would have won the prize for scariest costume! He tried to get the neurosurgeon to let him take the tumor home in a jar, but they said no. It was about the size of a small tangerine! All is going fine and he's just as ornery as ever!

So, let me try to remember Canton....... It was busy!! Everything was decorated for Christmas. We had lots of trees and tons and tons of vintage ornaments! I haven't had time to do much with the pictures, but here are a few shots from The Veranda.........
